Bristol Myers Squibb has been in operation in Ireland since 1964, employing over 650 people across a range of activities and business units.
Ireland is home to External manufacturing’s global headquarters, the business unit responsible for the management of manufacturing contract operations (CMO’s) and ensuring reliable supply of product to patients across the Bristol Myers Squibb global network.
This includes management of, and working in conjunction with, third party contract manufacturers and internal manufacturing sites. In Ireland, External Manufacturing has two sites; Global Headquarters based in Dublin 15 and a distribution centre in Shannon, Co Clare.

Description
This role focuses on the development of category strategies that define how purchasing will be done for a given spend category, including defining buying channels, purchasing policies, supplier relationship management program, etc. This person will need to engage technically, operationally, and commercially to understand and enable speed, high quality performance, supply assurance, and risk mitigation for the pipeline and clinical/commercial supply. This role will develop, maintain and implement a 3-5 year strategic category plan that ensures all projects deliver maximum value. Additionally, this individual is responsible for overseeing the execution of category strategies by multiple cross-functional teams, including sourcing and contracting. This role will assist in the development of and adherence to strategic category management processes and procedures, supplier and category segmentation, metrics/KPI development and application, and contract management. This role is expected to ensure close alignment to business priorities and functional objectives. Communication with a broad stakeholder group from scientist to operations and quality teams is critical for this role.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develop and enable Direct Material supply strategies that contemplate cost, risk mitigation, supply assurance, quality, supplier diversity, innovation, and supplier segmentation that aim to generate significant enterprise value on both a short and long term horizon.
- Develop preferred suppliers within a category of spend and manage compliance.
- Identify, build, and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers in category through effective supplier governance, performance measurement & development plans.
- Lead negotiations, ensuring strategic contractual infrastructure is in place to support business priorities.
- Drive multi-year productivity plans for category and support related opportunity assessments, financial projections, and budgeting processes.
- Partner closely with Business Continuity Management teams to ensure that risk is assessed and managed according to the needs of the business and in compliance with corporate policies.
- Develop business engagement plan and ensure stakeholder priorities and needs are incorporated into functional objectives.
- Support business growth and external innovation by providing market insights and subject matter expertise to key Business Partners ranging from scientists to operations and quality teams
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- B.S./B.A. required
- Minimum of 5-10 years of business experience, preferably with multi-disciplined procurement experience or related category domain experience
- Experience participating on cross-functional and/or global teams
- Internal stakeholder management, data/information management, category management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project management and performance measurement skills
- Procurement process knowledge, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier management, strategic planning and integrated supply chain experience.
Preferred Requirements:
- M.S., M.B.A., M.A., or equivalent master’s degree in science, business administration, operations management, engineering, finance, or other technical field
- Experience in Biologics, Pharmaceutical and/or Biologics
- Negotiations training with demonstrated results
