Responsibilities:

  • Lead a comprehensive and proactive Medical organization that encompasses all aspects of medical activity in China
  • Establish and maintain strong partnership with Commercial, Development and other functions to drive overall business strategy.
  • Build China Medical reputation and visibility at the national & international level. Ensure appropriate China participation in international trials and support post-marketing commitment studies.
  • Ensure clinical programs provide timely, practical scientific data and publications that contribute to the wellbeing of patients.
  • Manage Medical budgets and resource allocation.
  • Accountable for all compliance and legal aspects relating to local Medical activities.
  • Contribute to the development of Local and Global Medical Plans, and overall Brand Plans
  • Lead the Medical Organization for high performance through coaching, feedback, and development of talent. Work to recruit, retain and train the medical teams for sustained performance.
  • Translate business objectives into individual goals for direct reports and help direct reports define personal development goals and career development opportunities
  • Promote a culture of innovation, constructive challenge and accountability, team spirit and cross-functional collaboration, decision-making balanced by speed, risk and rigor
  • Within the Medical Department that is based on ensuring the wellbeing of patients and strong integrity.
  • Interact and build relationships with government bodies and non-governmental organizations
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and all legal and ethical standards in China & BMS
  • Act as Disease Area Head on Immuno Oncology team  

Requirements:

  • Medical educational background (MD) and at least 5 years of experience of executive responsibilities in a multinational organization.
  • A balanced local and international background with experience in the China and also in regional / international roles along his/her professional career.
  • Expertise and experience in managing oncology
  • Experience taking accountability for all medical functions, and medical activities during launch phase of a product
  • Experienced in advanced project management techniques, particularly setting goals that are aligned with Global strategy, budgeting and reporting. 
  • A deep knowledge of the China health environment, regulations and the external scientific stakeholders.
  • Proven strong personal leadership capabilities, ability to influence in matrix organizations and excellent relationships skills to represent BMS in the external scientific community
  • High business partner mentality with strong collaboration mindset. Experience or knowledge of integrating Medical, Marketing, Market Access, Development & Regulatory functions within a country
  • Advanced experience of people management, including developing talent, succession planning, coaching and performance management
  • Knowledge of common compliance issues within a Medical organization and how to resolve them
  • Basic knowledge of Disease Areas with oncology focus that are important within country and an appreciation of Pricing and Regulatory issues affecting major products within country
  • Understanding of key financial and market measures. Ability to use financial measures and manage budgets

On-site Protocol

BMS has a diverse occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
