Position Summary (Role purpose and objectives)

The DAS is the trusted and respected partner within the Therapeutic Area Network (TAN)-team during the pre-launch and launch period. The DAS brings deep scientific knowledge to TAN-team, ensures flawless execution of medical tactics and engages in high-quality peer-to-peer scientific dialogues and discussions with Inter- and National Thought Leaders (TLs) within Innovative Medicines.

Through these dialogues DAS gathers insights, drives scientific partnerships (e.g. evidence generation) and unravels patient pathways, which will be used for developing strategies and tactics with TAN-team.

The DAS is seen as a highly scientific partner to our internal & external customers and has at least 20% field focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively partner with TAN-team to provide insights and scientific input for but not limited to integrated brand plan and reimbursement dossier
  • Identify international and national TLs in Innovative Medicines related to BMS (early) launch portfolio, develop engagement plans in line with medical plan, and act on these plans with high-quality peer-to-peer scientific dialogue and discussions
  • Communication and education of appropriate new scientific data and publications, which support customer focused activities, to allow internal stakeholders to optimally fulfil their roles compliantly
  • Identify data GAPs and scientific partnership opportunities (e.g. clinical research collaborations, clinical research sites and/or experts for BMS clinical trials) and inform and collaborate with local clinical research organization (RCO) and global clinical development teams
  • Support cross-functional colleagues with data evidence-projects, such as real-life data initiatives and BMS clinical trials through feasibilities and site engagement in collaboration with field medical colleagues, if applicable
  • Support MSLs with communication topics (e.g. new data within TA or on BMS product/ therapy, HCP's education tool/ project/ activity, changes in HC environment, business questions, new or updates on BMS trials) & Insights to fuel their discussions
  • Lead development, and adjust if appropriate, of medical plan in close liaison with MSL-manager (MSLM) for field focused activities, if field is involved, during pre-launch and launch period.
  • Execute on medical plan including but not limited to adboards if appropriate, national education activities and collaboration with HCP organizations; Responsibility to manage budget accordingly; Process updates within Lx Playbook (former SmartLaunch)
  • Support on customer focused activities to internal stakeholders within Innovative Medicines (e.g. review material, expert contributor) during pre-launch and launch period
  • Drive any local specific early access programs, such as compassionate use, pre-approval access and patient support programs, if appropriate
  • Maintain a high level of therapeutic expertise
  • Actively partner with Disease Area Head (DAH) to drive TA medical planning, budget planning, TA engagement planning and resource planning  

Collaboration with other roles

  • Strong peer-to-peer communication with MSLM, RCO, MSLs, therapeutic area lead (TAL), market access and HCP Strategist (HCPS)
  • Strong contribution to and collaboration with entire TAN-team during pre-launch and launch period
  • Liaise with global medical team (e.g. experts for international adboards, publication plan, trial updates, materials, best practices and share & receive insights) & global clinical development team (e.g. data GAPs, scientific opportunities)
  • Liaise with medical information to ensure our customers will be optimally supported on their (unsolicited) requests

Key competencies desired

  • In-depth knowledge on (data of) BMS product/ therapy & therapeutic areas.
  • Project management skills to manage, amplify, evaluate and share insights of impactful activities and projects (e.g. adboards, real life data-projects and national education events), all within budget and timelines  of Lx Playbook
  • Analytical mindset with a strong emphasis on critical thinking, logical reasoning, and data-driven decision-making to identify and capitalize on the best opportunities for BMS
  • Being able to adapt, respond, and thrive in the face of change and ambiguity (growth mindset)
  • Digitally fully integrated to improve engagement and impact. Able to adapt, thrive, and excel in a rapidly evolving digital landscape harnessing digital technologies to increase customer engagement and overall competitiveness.
  • Being able to understand the application of science to the business by staying up-to-date in the rapidly changing landscape of scientific advancement to address the needs and challenges of TLs
  • Proactive attitude, strong in Storytelling & Business acumen to drive appropriate adoption of BMS products/ therapies during pre-launch and launch period

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven record of developing high impact peer-to-peer engagement
  • Strong cardiovascular and/or immunology/neurosciences experience required:
  • Scientific or clinical area, patient treatment trends, clinical landscape
  • Pharmaceutical industry, including compliance and regulatory guidelines
  • Design and process of clinical & non-interventional research and real-life data initiatives
  • Clinical trial design and process
  • National and regional healthcare and access environment
  • EU regulatory process
  • Deep understanding of TLs environment and needs
  • Good written and spoken English and local language skills
