Functional Area Description

The Worldwide Patient Safety group is responsible for ensuring the safety of our medicines: The Worldwide Patient Safety group is responsible for pharmacovigilance and pharmaco-epidemiology deliverables including single case and aggregate safety monitoring, safety reporting, contribution to benefit-risk assessment, risk management planning and strategy, and execution of certain post-marketing commitments and ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements.

Position Summary / Objective

• Performs with little or no supervision the required core pharmacovigilance (PV) activities listed below in line with local regulatory and relevant legal requirements and BMS procedures.  
• May take overall responsibility to manage either the LMPS function or the LMPS team (people management) for the assigned local affiliate. May act as PV Responsible in the absence of Head of Patient Safety where required. 
• Provides guidance to more junior LMPS personnel, where required, and assists the Head of Patient Safety in day-to-day management of the local PV function. 
• Acts as 'Deputy of the Pharmacovigilance responsible person in Switzerland', in accordance with Medicinal Products Licensing Ordinance (MPLO), Article 12

Degree Requirements

University degree (preferably life science) or nursing qualification. 

Experience Requirements

5-7 years’ experience of working in Pharmacovigilance or in a closely aligned field (e.g. Regulatory, Clinical, or Medical Information) within the pharmaceutical industry, medical or Regulatory environment

Key Competency Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to provide quality work using strong organizational, facilitation and interpersonal skills in a cross-functional team locally, within GPVE and externally. 
• Demonstrates a good understanding of the BMS organization, in particular the Global and International/Regional Safety groups and relevant local departments e.g. Regulatory and Clinical Teams.  Knows where to go to for information and how the groups interact.  
• Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.  Able to research, compile and provide safety information in a clear concise manner to the local / regional team/GPVE HQ and externally. Sets consistent standards for others in local PV team to follow. 
• Excellent understanding of local, regional and any other relevant legislation with regard to PV (e.g. ICH, CIOMS), as well as BMS corporate and local systems (e.g. Global Safety Database, local data bases) and procedures, in order to fulfill regulatory requirements for Pharmacovigilance.   
• Maintains an awareness of the safety profile and any emerging PV issues with BMS products (marketed or investigational) in the local affiliate and is able to represent the local PV function on cross functional teams, providing input on drug safety issues. With support leads cross functional teams for Risk Management and other safety related matters.  Understands the importance of PV within the organization and increases recognition as a PV expert. 
• Demonstrated ability to review safety information with attention to detail and accuracy, while managing multiple tasks & prioritizing work in order to meet strict deadlines.  Utilizes effective problem-solving approaches to solve PV issues. Provides support to other PV associates as required. 
• Demonstrated ability to comply with relevant internal and external processes/guidelines/regulations. 
• Strong ability to identify, address, resolve and communicates safety issues and performs root cause analysis
• Fluent in English, German is an advantage

Travel Required

Minimal travel required in this position. Trips could include travel to BMS sites and to attend professional meetings and seminars.

Chemistry is a core capability in Small Molecule & Drug Discovery with innovative scientists working in medicinal chemistry, radiochemistry, analytical chemistry, and large-scale synthesis.  Within SMDD our Lead Discovery and Optimization (LDO) team is responsible for high throughput screening, compound storage and distribution, primary assays to support discovery programs, and compound profiling to explore drug liabilities in vitro.   LDO scientists discover and adopt cutting edge assay technologies that utilize state-of-the-art automation to drive speed and efficiency.  Our Molecular Structure and Design team embraces novel approaches to computer-aided drug design, machine learning, and structural biology.  The integration of these disciplines provides a seamless and highly interactive environment for discovery scientists to learn, develop, and innovate.  Working in partnership with our disease area experts in the Thematic Research Centers provides an exciting pathway to discover and deliver medicines to patients in need.

Lead Discovery & Optimization (LDO) is a dynamic organization that supports the entirety of drug discovery (from lead identification to clinical candidate delivery) at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS). We employ state of the art technologies, complemented by deep subject matter expertise and broad scientific knowledge, to deliver innovative and comprehensive preclinical in vitro datasets to support our drug discovery pipeline in disease areas such as cell therapy, oncology, immunology, fibrosis, neuroscience, and cardiovascular diseases.

As a Scientist within the Biochemistry, Cellular and Mechanistic Pharmacology team, this individual will be responsible for development and execution of cell-based assays designed to inform understanding of the pharmacology and mechanism of action of novel compounds in support of the broad BMS portfolio. This individual will have the opportunity to work on cross-functional drug discovery teams, closely interacting with colleagues across the Research organization. The individual will collaborate within LDO and across project teams to help shape in vitro screening strategy, identify appropriate assay platforms, and guide the mechanistic understanding of compounds toward the identification of novel therapeutic candidates.  The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of fundamental principles of GPCR pharmacology and cell culture, including receptor-ligand interactions and intracellular signaling transduction pathways.  In addition, hands-on experience with radioligand binding assays, protein (HTRF, BRET, luminescence, ALPHA technology, ELISA, western, etc.), and nucleic acid-based (RT-qPCR) cellular assay formats is strongly desired.  This is a laboratory-based position.

In this role, the Scientist is expected to prepare and deliver presentations to project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will balance technical skills with critical-thinking and possess a track record of driving high quality, high-impact projects to completion. The successful candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, and team oriented.   

Duties:

• Design, optimize, and execute plate-based assays and mechanism of action studies
• Develop and execute high-throughput screens of large chemical libraries
• Utilize appropriate software and analytical tools to interpret and apply quality control measures to screening data
• Provide scientific and technical know-how within LDO and as a member of disease project teams
• Effectively compile and present data to project teams in both written and oral formats

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of Academic / Industry experience

Master’s Degree and 3+ years of Academic / Industry experience

Or

PhD and no years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD  with 0 - 2 years of experience or MS with 3+ years of experience in GPCR pharmacology research; experience applying quantitative pharmacological principles is a plus

• Demonstrated experience developing and executing receptor binding assays, kinetics, and protein/RNA quantitation
• Demonstrated experience executing BRET assays
• Ability to design and execute de novo cell-based assays (fluorescence, luminescence, HTRF etc.)
• A strong understanding of cell biology, ion channels/transporters, GPCR signaling pathways, and cell culture
• Ability to effectively analyze, interpret, and present experimental data
• Clear and direct communication skills

Position Summary

The Omnichannel Strategist acts as member of Worldwide Commercialization Excellence (WCE) for brand teams, pulling in cross-functional resources as needed to ensure successful delivery of omnichannel strategy and campaigns. This role is deployed to brand teams, to lead digital and media channel planning in collaboration with our business partners, and leads cross-functional teams (business, matrix, agency partners) to execute and optimize campaigns, tactics, and programs to meet and exceed business strategy and objectives.

Purpose/Objective of the Job:

• Plan and execute omnichannel brand campaigns, programs, media planning & campaigns and tactics - driving operational effectiveness, business impact and achievement of objectives.
• Partner with business and other WCE functions (e.g., Content Delivery and Customer Engagement Platform Team) on development of overall omnichannel strategy followed by more specific digital channel strategy to meet business and customer needs.
• Partner with BI&A to develop metrics and measurement plans and deliver omnichannel insights and recommendations for ongoing optimization of omnichannel strategy
• Leverage Digital Capabilities and Customer Engagement Excellence principles, standards, and best practices to drive results for the business. Examples include Omnichannel and advanced analytics, content modularization, CRM, websites, Interactive visual aids (IVAs), email, social media, Remote Engagement and Search Engine Marketing. Other examples to be identified based on business/customer needs and prioritized according to the identified customer experience journeys.
• Identify and run experiments with IT / CEP to pilot/scale future digital marketing capabilities.
• Act as a coach to brand teams to ensure adoption of new ways of working with specific focus on omnichannel strategy

Key Responsibilities:

• Leads brand omnichannel planning and content strategies in partnership with marketing across cross-functional stakeholders for multiple customers as prioritized by the brand lead.

• Leads cross-functional matrix teams to enable seamless execution of business strategy and lead execution of derivative content and digital campaigns/tactics

• Contributes to continuous improvement of engagement, channel, content and analytic planning frameworks and tactical templates to use across cross functional brand teams.
• Leads and coordinates regular insights and metrics discussions with business partners in partnership with the BI&A team to ensure frequent optimization of the engagement, content and channel plans.
• Collaborates with BI&A to ensure KPI identification, measurement plans and optimization of omnichannel campaigns and customer journeys
• Coordinates with Marketing, BI&A, Customer Engagement Platforms, IT, Digital Production, Content Delivery, and rest of WCE teams on the following activities:
  • Prioritization of campaigns and tactics
  • Definition of campaign/tactic success (e.g., development of metrics plan)
  • Evaluation and optimization of tactics
  • Driving tactical plan to accomplish KPI and business objectives
• Provides omnichannel subject matter expertise into the ongoing evolution of customer engagement model by working with business leads on critical business priorities
• Maintains view of the competitive landscape and has a broad perspective across BMS and pharma industry to identify and drive best practice around omnichannel expertise
• Drives innovation culture and coordinates with business and capability leads to develop innovative digital tactics and apply metrics, analytics, and insights
• Identifies long-term process needs of the business partners focused on omnichannel capabilities, developing, and executing a plan to address business requirements
• Identify opportunities for synergies and collaboration within and across markets within a therapeutic area
• Identify, share and lead implementation of best practices in OC planning, content creation, platform development, etc. across TAs / brands
• Lead on the relationship with digital agencies/vendors to define project scope, costs, timelines, and deliverables
• Partner with content stewards, Production & Content Delivery to provide early insight into crossmarket material creation to drive content/asset re-use.
• Deliver campaign briefs and other necessary requirements documentation to support the development of programs
• Monitor, manage and provide regular updates on campaign/project financials
• Partner closely with Production and Content Delivery to provide direction, support to project teams, and implement changes when needed to achieve project objectives

• Experience working with other analytical techniques such as LC/MS, SEC, Spectroscopy or light scattering techniques.
• Strong fundamental knowledge of protein/DNA/RNA structure and function.

Principal Scientist, Membrane Protein Structural Biology

BMS encompasses a broad range of disciplines to enable a robust pipeline of drug candidates aimed at serious diseases. 

Chemistry is a core capability in Small Molecule & Drug Discovery with innovative scientists working in medicinal chemistry, radiochemistry, analytical chemistry, and large-scale synthesis.  Within SMDD our Lead Discovery and Optimization (LDO) team is responsible for high throughput screening, compound storage and distribution, primary assays to support discovery programs, and compound profiling to explore drug liabilities in vitro.   LDO scientists discover and adopt cutting edge assay technologies that utilize state-of-the-art automation to drive speed and efficiency.  Our Molecular Structure and Design team embraces novel approaches to computer-aided drug design, machine learning, and structural biology.  The integration of these disciplines provides a seamless and highly interactive environment for discovery scientists to learn, develop, and innovate.  Working in partnership with our disease area experts in the Thematic Research Centers provides an exciting pathway to discover and deliver medicines to patients in need.

BMS is a leader in the discovery and development of novel therapies that exploit targeted protein degradation. Structural biology is critical to this work, and for other efforts across additional modalities and therapeutic areas. High-quality 3D structures of soluble proteins, protein complexes, and membrane proteins enable our scientists to understand mechanisms of action, design ligands or drug molecules, and make predictions about new biological targets for our drug discovery efforts. 

Job Description

The successful candidate will conduct research within a talented group of scientists focused on targeted protein degradation (Protein Homeostasis Structural Biology) but will work across functions and therapeutic areas to enable structural studies of key membrane proteins. There is opportunity to have a real-time, high-value impact on the ongoing projects as well as chart the future of our research efforts by capitalizing on structural insights, for example, by uncovering mechanisms of action, defining binding modes, and identifying target degrons. This scientist will interface with chemistry, biology, proteomics, and CADD scientists working across BMS. We are seeking a passionate scientist who strives to bring impactful membrane protein structural biology insights to bear on a burgeoning portfolio of targets, across therapeutic areas, with the goal of bringing novel therapies to patients.

Job Responsibilities

·       Plan and execute laboratory experiments with the goal of generating suitable membrane proteins for successful structure determination by cryo-electron microscopy and/or X-ray crystallography

·       Collect data and determine structures of key membrane protein structures relevant to drug discovery

·       Interact with drug discovery project teams, and participate in departmental meetings, to communicate structural results and assist in rational drug design

·       Participate in departmental initiatives on cross-functional initiatives/work streams/ taskforces

This position provides expertise to drive excellence and consistency in statistical programming SDTM implementation team.  Primarily, this position is responsible for providing study SDTM deliverables that support analysis and reporting activities.   

• Primarily responsible for quality and timely delivery of SDTM artifacts required for downstream activities and regulatory submissions. 

• Review synopsis and/or protocol and provide comments for the Review Committee  

• Design SDTM specification as per Company CDISC standards and ensure they meet downstream ADaM and Reporting requirements 

• Understand different formats of data collection including CRF and non-CRF(external) data and the challenges involved in integration of the two sources into target SDTM model. 

• Annotate CRFs and Review annotated CRFs in accordance with BMS guidelines and appropriate metadata to reflect tabulation datasets 

• Oversee/ develop SAS programs to generate SDTM datasets 

• Create and/or validate eCRT package for regulatory submission. 

• Working knowledge of BMS SDTM automation tools, macros and metadata. 

• Intricate understanding of clinical development life-cycle, stake-holder interactions and data interactions that aid in identification of issues root-cause. 

• Maintain high quality of deliverables with validation and resolution of issues surfaced in Pinnacle21 and BMS Quality tools and ensure the quality meets regulatory submission standards. 

• Collaborate with stakeholders and Study team members to manage study timelines, and resolve issues and escalate if necessary. 

• Ensure that all programming deliverables are compliant with CDISC  

• Partner with CROs and act as a primary point of contact for SDTM programming activities 

• Provide oversight of CRO/vendor programming activities to ensure adherence of standards as well as receiving quality and timely deliverables 

• Receive, process and review datasets, as well as data review reports from CROs 

• Ensure that programming best practices are adhered to by both CRO and BMS programmers 

• Participate in study/project team meetings as a core member and provide technical expertise/support

Degree Requirements 

• BA/BS in a relevant scientific discipline such as Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical sciences, Statistics, or Computer science.

Experience Requirements 

• Minimum of 4 plus years Pharmaceutical/CRO experience as a SAS Programmer supporting clinical trials for regulatory submissions with expertise in CDSIC/SDTM with an end to end understanding of clinical drug development lifecycle.  Please see job description for detailed expected experience.
