The Immunology and Cardiovascular Thematic Research Center (ICV TRC) at BMS is one of the fundamental Research units delivering therapeutics to patients. Our mission is to create transformative medicines of tomorrow based on the cutting-edge science of today. We leverage BMS’s internal invention engine that includes industry-leading expertise in small molecule chemistry, protein biotherapeutics, cell therapy, protein degradation, nucleic acids, and other therapeutic modalities.
The Translational Early Development (TED) group within the ICV-TRC seeks to understand disease pathophysiology to enable patient selection and stratification in clinical trials and develop critical assays to evaluate target engagement and pharmacodynamics of our new drugs in patients.
Position Responsibilities
In the role as a senior scientist within Translational Early Development, the ideal candidate:
Applies scientific and technical skills and functional knowledge to conduct experiments with human cells and samples
Adapts standard methods and techniques by applying breadth of knowledge and prior work experience
Makes decisions that impact entire work group / project team
Contributes to initiatives related to continuous improvement or development of new approaches / technologies
Starts to develop and implement approaches to new technology and take calculated risks
Leads discussions and makes presentations in multidisciplinary meetings, logically presenting information to convey clear, key messages
May represent TED team on project team or sub-team
Participates to management of our internal patient samples database (LIMS, Spotfire)
Runs flow cytometry and cell-based assays and molecular biology experiments such as DNA, RNA preparation and PCR
Executes, analyses and interprets experiments independently
Participates in multidisciplinary projects and teams and integrates cross-functional information
Experience
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of academic / industry experience
or
Master's Degree and 5+ years of academic / industry experience
or
PhD and 2+ years of academic / industry experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of academic / industry experience or Master's Degree and 5+ years of academic / industry experience
Proficient in scientific / technical writing (e.g., regulatory documents, protocols)
Thorough knowledge of experimental design, and technical laboratory skills (e.g. immunoassays, protein signaling, qPCR technology platforms, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry) together with an ability to interpret results
Demonstrated ability to handle several projects at any given time
Excellent communication skills and ability to present data
Willingness to work in a fast paced highly collaborative cross functional research team environment
Proficiency with analysis & interpretation of results is required
Understanding of drug discovery process is preferred
Deep knowledge of human immunology and immune-mediated diseases is preferred

Translational Development at BMS
Translational Development (TD) is part of the Global Research organization in BMS and leads mid- to late-stage clinical, pharmacological, and translational research and development activities for the BMS pipeline. The Translational Development team supports the late-stage portfolio for regulatory, translational development and life cycle management. This group integrates scientific learnings from the lab and clinic as well as business insights of multiple functions and leads the development of translational strategies at the franchise level.
Summary
Reporting to the Head of Program Management and Operations, Translational Development, the incumbent will be part of the late development translational group based in Summit, NJ and will be responsible for leading a team of program and project managers supporting the late development portfolio in the Solid Tumor pipeline. The ideal candidate will manage complex and high profile portfolio assets and facilitate broad, integrated plans to enable the delivery of our Translational development portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Managing complex and high-profile portfolio of assets, with broad visibility both within BMS and the external scientific community.
- Execute processes to develop holistic Translational Development (TD) plans, manage issues and risk mitigations for the portfolio of assets. The scope includes: Biomarker delivery within clinical trials , Integrated Sciences delivery for key translational questions, Issue and risk mitigations for the portfolio of assets, Publications and presentations (internal and external), Regulatory responses and interactions
- Establish meeting agendas to drive TD portfolio and documenting outcomes, decisions and key learnings to enhance collaboration and communication
- Work closely with leaders and team to provide cross-functional TD overview
- Responsible for the continuous evolution and measurement of processes and tools to drive efficiency and enhance business value.
- Seeks opportunities to leverage and extend processes and tools to drive improved engagement and project oversight.
- Mentors others within the team and in adjacent organizations to grow and develop broader stakeholder management and program management capabilities, including other TA program managers; as well as portfolio development program managers.
- Creates visibility and maintains transparency into translational activities to key stakeholders that contributes to the overall translational plan for the asset
- Independently manages preparation and coordination of collaboration meetings/engagements as needed; facilitating cross-functional and cross-industry engagement
- Elaborates and ensures effective execution of a robust process for regular program and portfolio strategy reviews facilitated by Biomarker Operations staff; executes review processes for critical assets within his/her portfolio area in partnership with the TM Leader
- Delivers business value and ensures effective use of resources by driving prioritization activities and raising visibility of areas for opportunistic action
- Ensures appropriate compliance to contracting policies
- Creates visibility into all proposed/contracted work and ensure review of milestones to support timely payment etc.
Qualifications:
- B.S., M.S. (or Ph.D.) in a scientific discipline; PMP or equivalent experience is desirable
- 10+ years pharmaceutical industry experience in a variety of operational/scientific roles minimum 8+ years’ experience as a team leader in a highly matrixed environment
- Shapes strategic approaches to scientific delivery, utilizing sophisticated negotiation and scenario planning
- Works with a sense of urgency and experience managing multiple projects, building structure from ambiguity and helping teams to develop priorities
- Experience designing and leading complex, global projects comprised of virtual team members of diverse styles, driving to successful outcomes with and without direct management responsibilities
- Drives effective contract/fiscal management of project activities; experienced with the development of business cases for options based decision-making
- Skilled listener with ability to manage complex internal – up, across, and down the hierarchy - and external relationships through constructive conflict management; experience with third party governance oversight desirable.
- Negotiates an enterprise (vs. functional) perspective across BMS
- Experienced in developing and implementing agile, creative solutions, utilizing direct and indirect resources, to solve business challenges within the line organization, across the company, and in partnership with external collaborators

Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and versatile Principal Scientist to join our collaborative Protein Engineering team in Redwood City/Brisbane (CA) to discover and engineer innovative biotherapeutic candidates and drive technological innovation. Our group acts on new ideas in the laboratory and thrives on the design-build-test cycle. You will solve complex protein engineering problems and implement robust platforms for protein therapeutic optimization. You will collaborate with talented colleagues across biotherapeutics and multiple therapeutic areas, and further support AI/ML workflows. You will present at internal and external meetings, contribute to therapeutic pipeline projects, publications, and patents. Responsibilities include selection-based assays using protein display library technologies, binder engineering for antibody-target interaction, cross-function and cross-site collaboration, and project and team management.
Responsibilities
- Lead yeast display team responsible for lead optimization of therapeutic proteins
- Manage protein engineering/lead optimization pipeline and supervise laboratory scientists
- Drive efforts to engineer antibodies, multispecifics, and alternative biologic formats for optimal therapeutic performance
- Perform selections on yeast display libraries
- Library design in collaboration with AI/ML engineers, library construction, NGS
- Independently perform routine molecular biology techniques, DNA assembly and cloning, design expression constructs for external synthesis, and coordinate construct and library orders with CROs
- Analyze library NGS data using no-code or low-code bioinformatics platforms
- Independently perform complex experiments, troubleshoot, expertly analyze and interpret experimental results with strong attention to detail and documentation practices
- Present results internally and externally, attend industry conferences
- Accomplish goals under project team timelines
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 9+ years of academic/industry experience, Master’s Degree with 7+ years of academic/industry experience or PhD in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or related fields with 5+ years of academic/industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or related fields with 5+ years of relevant post-graduate or biotech/biopharma industry experience related to antibody design and engineering
- Expertise in molecular biology including DNA and RNA purification, cloning and DNA assembly, PCR, mutagenesis, plasmid/vector construction, vector elements, Sanger sequencing, NGS library preparation, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in yeast display, antibody/protein library construction, sorting, analytical binding, etc.
- Flow cytometry and FACS
- In-depth understanding and experience in antibody engineering, including, but not limited to, affinity maturation, deep mutational scanning, species cross-reactivity, liability correction, biophysical/physiochemical property remediation, etc.
- Sound understanding of proteins, antibodies, sequence, and structure-function relationships
- Familiarity with biotherapeutics developability and manufacturability
- Familiarity with protein structure analysis (Pymol, Chimera, MOE).
- Familiarity with protein-protein interaction techniques and kinetics (BLI, SPR, on-cell binding)
- Bioinformatics or data science experience is desirable (bash, Python, or R)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, FlowJo, Prism, DNA cloning software
- Managerial/supervisorial experience is required
- Demonstrated experience in working in a cross-functional organization is required
- Experience in lead discovery and optimization

The Oncology Thematic Research Center at BMS is one of the fundamental research and early development engines delivering oncology therapeutics to patients. The scientists at this state-of-the-art research and development site in Cambridge focus on novel tumor intrinsic targets and pathways for tumors that are refractory to current Immuno-Oncology and Oncology therapies, and implement our discovery platforms across all of our therapeutic areas of focus. Position Summary
We are seeking a creative scientist leader with experience independently leading antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) drug discovery teams from target concept to IND filing. The successful candidate will join the Discovery Biology ADC Team within the Oncology Thematic Research Center at Bristol Myers Squibb in Cambridge, MA. The qualified candidate should be a highly motivated, independent, interactive, and creative scientist capable of working across highly matrixed teams to advance drug discovery teams programs.
The successful candidate will be dedicated to leading matrixed ADC discovery project teams from the early stages/target concept all the way through to IND filing.
They will lead a team of scientists executing a wide range of biology bench studies, including developing and miniaturizing assays to enable the candidate discovery screening funnel and advancing the understanding of ADC mechanisms of action. In addition to leading candidate discovery and characterization efforts, the successful candidate will work with bioinformaticians and translational research scientists to design and execute work supporting patient stratification and identification of appropriate target engagement PD markers.
Position Responsibilities
In the role as a Principal Scientist within Discovery Biology, the ideal candidate will:
Lead highly matrixed ADC discovery teams from target concept to IND and lead/mentor a biology team supporting in vitro experimentation.
Leverage current and new techniques for function-based identification and selection of antibody-drug-conjugate (ADC) lead drug candidates
Collaborate with functional area leads e.g. pharmacology, DMPK, informatics and predictive science to drive programs forward, including helping to define program priorities and risks.
Apply extensive technical knowledge to address ADC mechanism of action
Present complex concepts to a range of audiences including governance and full team project meetings.
Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Communicate via email, meetings, and reports.
Experience

Translational Development (TD) is part of the Global Research organization in BMS and leads mid- to late-stage clinical, pharmacological, and translational research and development activities for the BMS pipeline. The Translational Development team supports the late-stage portfolio for regulatory, translational development and life cycle management. This group integrates scientific learnings from the lab and clinic as well as business insights of multiple functions and leads the development of translational strategies at the franchise level.
Summary
Reporting to the Head of Program Management and Operations, Translational Development, the incumbent will be part of the late development translational group based in Summit, NJ and will be responsible for leading a team of program and project managers supporting the late development portfolio in the Immunology, Cardiovascular and Neuroscience pipeline. The ideal candidate will manage complex and high profile portfolio assets and facilitate broad, integrated plans to enable the delivery of our Translational development portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Managing complex and high-profile portfolio of assets, with broad visibility both within BMS and the external scientific community.
- Execute processes to develop holistic Translational Development (TD) plans, manage issues and risk mitigations for the portfolio of assets. The scope includes: Biomarker delivery within clinical trials , Integrated Sciences delivery for key translational questions, Issue and risk mitigations for the portfolio of assets, Publications and presentations (internal and external), Regulatory responses and interactions
- Establish meeting agendas to drive TD portfolio and documenting outcomes, decisions and key learnings to enhance collaboration and communication
- Work closely with leaders and team to provide cross-functional TD overview
- Responsible for the continuous evolution and measurement of processes and tools to drive efficiency and enhance business value.
- Seeks opportunities to leverage and extend processes and tools to drive improved engagement and project oversight.
- Mentors others within the team and in adjacent organizations to grow and develop broader stakeholder management and program management capabilities, including other TA program managers; as well as portfolio development program managers.
- Creates visibility and maintains transparency into translational activities to key stakeholders that contributes to the overall translational plan for the asset
- Independently manages preparation and coordination of collaboration meetings/engagements as needed; facilitating cross-functional and cross-industry engagement
- Elaborates and ensures effective execution of a robust process for regular program and portfolio strategy reviews facilitated by Biomarker Operations staff; executes review processes for critical assets within his/her portfolio area in partnership with the TM Leader
- Delivers business value and ensures effective use of resources by driving prioritization activities and raising visibility of areas for opportunistic action
- Ensures appropriate compliance to contracting policies
- Creates visibility into all proposed/contracted work and ensure review of milestones to support timely payment etc.
Qualifications:
- B.S., M.S. (or Ph.D.) in a scientific discipline; PMP or equivalent experience is desirable
- 10+ years pharmaceutical industry experience in a variety of operational/scientific roles minimum 8+ years’ experience as a team leader in a highly matrixed environment
- Shapes strategic approaches to scientific delivery, utilizing sophisticated negotiation and scenario planning
- Works with a sense of urgency and experience managing multiple projects, building structure from ambiguity and helping teams to develop priorities
- Experience designing and leading complex, global projects comprised of virtual team members of diverse styles, driving to successful outcomes with and without direct management responsibilities
- Drives effective contract/fiscal management of project activities; experienced with the development of business cases for options based decision-making

Position Summary
The Specialist Process Technician is responsible for performing/providing maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of GMP process equipment used in manufacturing, warehouse and analytical labs at the production site.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute routine to intermediate level maintenance activities and operate plant clean utility and process & lab equipment to sustain a cell therapy biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in accordance with CFRs, SOPs, job plans, and BMS policies.
- Assures that all documentation is stored in CMMS and Document Management Systems compliant to GxP regulations.
- Participates in a detailed training program, to develop one’s knowledge in the maintenance and operations field, as well as other areas of the facility.
- Assists in review related SOPs or job plans/work plans for work related areas.
- Provides basic troubleshooting of clean utilities and process & lab equipment/systems.
- Requires on-call duty and if needed overtime and weekend hours. Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.
- Contact with F&E Team, Manufacturing, Warehouse & Lab Operators and Vendors.
- Will have daily contact with her/his supervisory staff for work assignments and coaching.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Requires at least a MBO level 4 diploma, technical degree preferred and/or equivalent experience in maintenance, or related technical discipline
- Proficiency in reading and writing English
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance, preferably related to process-,lab equipment and clean utilities.
- Direct experience working in GMP facilities, including understanding of GMP record keeping and documentation practices.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repair of electro-mechanical systems and instrumental equipment.
- Ability to work in a later stage in 24/7 operation shift.

Position Summary

- Effectively partners with the SVP of Global Medical and the Medical Leadership Team to design, develop, and deliver impactful internal and external communications plans that support achievement of Medical priorities in line with company imperatives and commercialization objectives.

Position Summary:
The TAS is a critical role in our unique customer model to execute the BMS aspiration to be the BioPharma that delivers the most impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs), driving adoption of new and existing medicines for appropriate patients.
