Position Summary
Leads Discovery & Optimization (LDO) is a diverse group of scientists and engineers, providing critical assay information to therapeutic research centers (TRCs) throughout research and early development (R&ED). We are seeking a enthusiastic, highly motivated and innovative intern to join the Proteomics group within LDO. The team supports programs across all TRCs from early discovery to translational medicine and develops new platforms/workflows to tackle challenging scientific questions.
The intern will closely collaborate with a scientist to develop and apply innovative proteomics methodology in the early-stage discovery pipeline. They will benefit from state-of-the-art proteomics laboratories at our Cambridge site and be responsible for sample preparation, instrumentation, and proteomics data analysis. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in departmental and project team meetings to gain valuable insights into drug discovery and development process and interact with individuals with a range of scientific and pharmaceutical leadership backgrounds. Key Responsibilities
• Learn and execute proteomics experiments from sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
• Contribute to design and development of proteomics experiments for early-stage program application.
• Analyze experimental data and present findings to the team.
• Maintain documentation of experiments in an electronic lab notebook.
• Gain background knowledge of the assigned project by reading scientific literature.
Qualifications & Experience
• Junior or Senior undergraduate students enrolled in a full-time university program which includes or approves a summer intern experience at BMS, and in a technically relevant field, such as Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, etc.
• Candidates should have completed laboratory courses and obtained basic laboratory skills
• Candidates should have effective communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Basic understanding and/or hands on experiences with analytical chemistry instruments (UHPLC, MS etc.) is a desirable trait.
