Position Summary
The Immunology, Cardiovascular, and Neuroscience Translational Medicine Disease Team is seeking an intern to join our laboratory team. The group utilizes a diverse range of experimental methods, including cell culture, immune based assays, flow cytometry, qPCR, microscopy and many more, to better understand the mechanism of action of our BMS molecules in late-stage clinical development. As an intern, you will gain hands on experience in a wet lab focused on translational research employed to develop new medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the execution of functional cell-based assays interrogating a drug's mechanism of action, comparing it to competitor molecules and evaluating potential biomarkers
- Projects generally focus on immune cell populations in diseases of interest including monocytes, macrophages and B cells
- Analysis and visualization of data generated in the lab, using common software packages such as Flowjo, Graphpad Prism; or Spotfire for higher dimensional data
- Presenting results to team members across different functions
- Accurate and timely record keeping of experiments and procedures
- Other tasks may be required to support the team as a whole
Qualifications & Experience
- Current undergraduates with majors in biological/biomedical sciences or related field
- Strong enthusiasm and interest in science with a desire to learn
- Lab skills (e.g. pipetting, cell culture, measuring, calculating dilutions, molecular biology) from college course science labs or research labs
- Willingness to work with primary human derived samples and potentially biohazardous/infections material
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed team
- Excellent fundamental skills such as communications, analytical and critical thinking
- Excellent organization and record keeping skills
