Position Summary

US Medical Capability supporting the strategic review of promotional materials for BMS Medicinal Products.

Strategic partner that is solutions oriented and focused on ensuring medical accuracy, robust scientific evidence and compliance with US laws and regulations for BMS products.

Reports to the Senior Director, US Medical Neuroscience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributes strong medical advice for interdisciplinary meetings and related initiatives including promotional review, disease/brand and launch planning, labeling changes, business reviews, etc.  
  • Proactively align and build strong relationships with champions and other advisors/stakeholders on issues or concerns to provide medical advice to ensure balance of messages in accordance with relevant guidelines.  
  • Creates a high performing, externally focused organization which emphasizes teamwork, cooperation, personal accountability, and a commitment to quality.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings (training, educational and others, including medical congresses) to remain current on ever changing regulations, relevant new medical/scientific information and commercial strategy.  
  • Responsible for providing input and advice to conduct the review of
    promotional materials for scientific/medical validity across BMS’ Portfolio.  
  • Critically review and recommend changes to promotional materials/activities to ensure balance of the messages, medical accuracy and appropriateness of the content of the materials/activities in accordance with relevant guidance.  
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership within the medical promotional review community of practice, to help drive best practices aligned with strategic imperatives.  
  • Maintains therapeutic area and product knowledge through ongoing
    assessment of relevant published literature, treatment guidelines, internal resources and data.  
  • Participates in mentoring, coaching and training of new and existing
    colleagues. Serves as a role model provides strategic and adheres to job-specific SOPs and work instructions.
  • Support the planning for medical congresses, ensuring that the strategy and objectives are clearly defined and aligned with broader organizational goals.
  • Work closely with the Medical Lead to support the preparation of presentations, posters, and other materials for congresses.
  • Contribute to the timely and effective dissemination of key data and findings during congresses.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs for the sales team and ensuring that sales training content is aligned with the latest scientific data, medical strategy, and key messaging. 
  • Conducts business in accordance with BMS Values.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • PharmD, MD, or PhD preferred.
  • Prior experience in associated therapeutic area preferred.
  • Previous experience in managing a team preferred.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of medical writing and medical
    preview of promotional materials in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage various projects, solve problems, deliver on commitments, and work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong scientific/medical written and verbal communication skills required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry as well as the external compliance, transparency & conflict-of-interest environments.
  • Experience in delivering a customer-focused service.
  • Developed business acumen and ability to impact and influence senior internal stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with demonstrated success in driving optimal business results in a complex matrix organization required.
  • Once/twice yearly national travel may be required.
