Responsibilities
Trains, guides, and supports Agile Teams to embed Agile mindsets and ways of working.
- Responsible for ensuring team understands Agile and Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines, and embeds knowledge through lived experience. Coaches the team in self-organization, high performing team practices, effective collaboration, and transparent communications.
- Crafts and implement team-specific Agile growth strategies; coaches at the team and individual basis. Brings team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate techniques.
- Partners with initiative lead(s)/owner(s) & project managers to create Agile milestone plans and backlogs for project & sprints and ongoingly adapt them per new information and needs. Coaches on refinement of deliverables/user stories and applies key Agile artifacts.
- Lead sprint ceremonies for Agile team to achieve targeted results in close partnership with initiative lead/product owner. Schedule & facilitate events, meetings, and decision-making processes.
- Co-manages timelines, resolves problems/issues that hinder the teams’ work. Facilitates internal communication and effective collaboration.
- Works with Agile/Scrum Teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams. Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
- Measures & monitors progress and performance. Help teams identify and implement needed changes to continuously improve their effectiveness, efficiency and engagement.
- Captures lessons learned for institutional knowledge & evolution. Captures key metrics & measures of success for Agile transformation.
- Actively participates the Agile Community of Practice forums to support scaling of Agile mindsets, skillsets and ways of working.
- Builds & Refines Multi-Media Tools for GPS Wide Communications & Learning. Develops, Refines & Deploys the Agile eLearning Library. Employs Best Practices in Learning & Development.
Qualifications
- Enthusiasm and energy to help transform, with tenacity/perseverance for leading change.
- Bachelor’s degree required in engineering, business, data science, computer science, information systems, with a Masters or MBA preferred
- 8+ years of business work experience
- 5+ years experience leading in an Agile work environment (incl. management consulting experience with agile training).
- Knowledge of Agile principles (Scrum and/or Kanban). Experience in implementing Agile at Scale.
- Agile certifications are a plus. Lean and Six Sigma certifications are not required but are a plus.
- Proven experience in training and education.
- Experience working as part of a larger PMO to deliver complex solutions, utilizing an Agile process to call out issues, remove impediments, and manage risk.
- Experience resolving conflicts and coaching teams to become better-aligned and higher functioning, with an eye on demonstrating those team skills to increase the speed and quality of software delivery.
- Experience managing a team of teams, negotiating compromises, and interfacing between technical and business partners.
- Familiarity with Atlassian Jira.
- Passionate about helping others learn, grow and develop. Ability to navigate organization, and identify, align and integrate cross-functional resources into cohesive teams in a highly matrixed environment
- Proven ability to identify innovative ideas through to deployment
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Facilitation Skills. Leads with a spirit Servant-leadership and empathy.
- Experience acting as an organizational change agent
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, organized and able to prioritize program execution activities to meet multiple deadlines
- Keen business acumen
- Hands-on experience on teams developing and refining new systems
- On-site Protocol Physical presence at the BMS worksite or physical presence in the field is a necessary job function of this role, which the Company deems critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, employee well-being
- Travel 25% (monthly among Ireland, Switzerland, and Puerto Rico)
The starting compensation for this job is a range from $162,000 - $202,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the geographic location where work is performed.
