Position Summary (Role purpose and objectives)

The Medical Science Liaison Manager (MSLM) Innovative Medicines is the crucial bridge between Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and the Therapeutic Area Network (TAN)-team. The MSLM plays an important role in translating valuable insights and impact measurements into opportunities, strategy and tactics aimed at enhancing the launch readiness and to drive appropriate adoption of BMS products/ therapies. The MSLM is responsible for the performance, development and growth of the Medical Science Liaison (MSL).

MSLM is expected to have at least 60% field focus (including MSL coaching and field visits).

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates a seamless transition from the medical field to the sales field during launch period in close collaboration with First Line (sales) Manager (FLM)
  • Ensures content delivery and support for MSLs in liaison with Disease Area Specialist (DAS) and enable them to focus on their field activities
  • Unleashes potential of MSLs (e.g. communication, ownership, growth mindset)
  • Develops field strategy in collaboration with Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL) and TAN stakeholders (e.g. DAS)
  • Translates impact and insights to inform opportunities (in alignment with MSLs), strategy and tactics in collaboration with TAL, DAS and the Therapeutic Area Network (TAN)–team
  • Delivers input for Unified Strategic Brand Plan and medical plan in close collaboration with DAS and Medical Engagement Lead (MEL) (where appropriate)
  • Defines and tracks impact measurements (level of understanding and sentiment) and takes proactive actions as necessary to support MSLs (Interact and Lx Playbook)
  • Analyzes and reports performance data (e.g. coverage, number HCPs, visits) to manage MSLs as necessary to optimize performance
  • Coaches MSLs to optimize their performance by group coaching, one to one coaching, co-visits etc. To support MSLs in their personal development and growth.

Collaboration with other roles

  • Strong collaboration with MEL, DAS, FLM if field medical is involved
  • Strong peer-to-peer communication with and active contributor to TAN-team if medical field is involved

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Scientific background by education; At least >3yrs experience in medical role within the pharmaceutical industry or >5yrs within another role within the industry
  • Ability to navigate and build relationships across teams, including across functions and capabilities
  • Ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to lead teams

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility.
