This position will support the Exec. Director of R&D Finance in financial planning & reporting aspects.  The role includes managing financial processes (e.g., Budget, Projection, Monthly Close Reporting and Finance Capability Enhancement) and collaborating across finance and the broader matrix organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify business trends, analyze actual results, and meaningfully synthesize and present business performance.
  • Develop financial analysis tools to increase business ownership and accountability and prepare financial presentations which accurately and insightfully presenting the results of business operations or future projections.
  • Oversee Resource Allocation process enhancements and embedding R&D Productivity measures into operational and financial reporting.
  • Work closely with Executive Director, R&D FP&A and Senior Vice President, R&D Finance to facilitate performance monitoring and guide decision making.
  • Coordinate annual budget and projection processes for Research and Drug Development.
  • Engage in strategic partnering for structure and resource allocation decisions.
  • Collaborate extensively across the matrix organization with: R&D Finance Leaders, Business and Operation Leaders, Corporate FP&A, Corporate Financial Reporting, and Tax.
  • Manage the overall finance calendar for Research and Drug Development.
  • Facilitate establishment of new financial capabilities
  • Engage as a thought leader helping promulgate best practices for Financial Planning & Analysis as a key stakeholder for the work of the Corporate FP&A function.

Qualifications/Experience

  • BS/BA or equivalent, MBA preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum 7-10 Years of financial experience of increasing responsibility in relevant financial roles, including auditing, consulting, financial planning & analysis
  • R&D related financial experience preferred
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively in a highly matrixed organization 
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Experience working with multiple levels of management with competing demands on time and resources
  • Strong character and ethics; attention to detail and ability to self-prioritize work on an ongoing basis
  • Expert level Excel/Word/PowerPoint skills and capabilities
  • Proven experience enhancing finance capabilities (dashboards, process optimization, application of new digital technologies)
  • Other technical knowledge and expertise such as PowerBI, Python, R, or machine learning and AI skills are a plus
  • Working knowledge of Hyperion/SAP/SAP BI/BEX preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable GAAP, Internal Controls, and business laws and regulations.
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to influence across the matrix a plus
