Leadership
Lamberto Andreotti
President & Chief Operating Officer
On March 2, 2010, Lamberto Andreotti was designated chief executive officer by the Board of Directors, effective May 4, 2010. Lamberto is currently responsible for all of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s pharmaceutical operations worldwide, including Technical Operations and Global Commercialization. In March 2009, Lamberto was elected to the Board of Directors.
In his role, Lamberto leads the company's operational transformation to a next-generation BioPharma leader.
“We are retaining the scope and resources of a traditional pharmaceutical company and adopting the agility of a biotech company,” says Lamberto. “We are creating an environment that puts a premium on innovation and speed. One of the biggest changes is our shift to a business model that embraces partnerships and opportunities that don’t fit within the traditional pharma model. This means we’re less focused on doing everything on our own. Instead, we’re selecting those things that we need to do ourselves, and doing them better and differently. In the process, we’re accelerating the things that make us very competitive in this changed environment.”
Lamberto joined Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1998 as vice president and general manager, Italy and European Oncology. In 2000, he was named president, Europe. In November 2002, Lamberto became senior vice president and president, International. Prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, Lamberto held various senior roles at KABI Pharmacia and then at Pharmacia & Upjohn.
“As we transform to a next-generation BioPharma company, what I like to see most of all is our can-do spirit. When I hear people speak passionately about what they’re doing, and how they’re doing things differently, I feel proud. I am proud that our medicines are helping patients prevail against serious disease.”
Lamberto earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Rome. He obtained a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
